Staking and Liquid Staking

  • Staking involves locking assets to validate and secure a blockchain

  • Liquid staking allows users to earn rewards on multiple layers or protocols using their already staked assets without needing to relocate them.

Babylon - Traditional Staking for BTC

Babylon offers a framework for native BTC holders to generate rewards through staking and validating other systems. However, users who directly deposit their BTC into Babylon cannot access their assets during the deposit period.

Babypie - Liquid Staking for BTC

To address this, Babypie has introduced smBTC, a liquid staked version of BTC. This enables BTC holders to participate in staking without locking up their holdings. When users deposit their BTC into Babylon via Babypie, they receive smBTC, which can be traded and used across various DeFi applications while their deposited BTC remains staked on Babylon.
